Dr. Cara Berg Powers is an author, educator, organizer and learner with a commitment to youth, media and justice. She is Executive Director at award-winning youth media organization Press Pass TV, an organization dedicated to using media arts and culture to solve community challenges and empower youth. Cara holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Change with a focus on Media Studies and Adolescence, as well as an MA in Transformative Media Arts and a BA in Screen Studies with a focus in Urban Development/Social Change. Her writing on Participatory Action Research can be read in the Berkman Center's Kinder Braver World Series.

She is Co-Chair of the NARAL Massachusetts Political Committee and Treasurer of Emerge Massachusetts, an organization that trains Democratic women to run for office and win. She is also on the Board of the Boston Institute for NonProfit Journalism (BINJ) and her Synagogue- Beth Tikvah in Westborough, MA. To keep sane, she plays Roller Derby as Surely Chis'l in her hometown of Worcester where she serves as Vice Chair of the Human Rights Commission and lives with her husband and toddler daughter.
